The Northern Shenandoah Valley Master Gardener Association sponsors a day of educational offerings each spring. The Gardening in the Valley Symposium provides a range of speakers on gardening subjects, as well as garden vendors, book sales, and door prizes. In addition, it counts as continuing education credit for Master Gardeners.

Scheduled topics and speakers for 2019 include:
- Greenhouses: Is One in Your Future? with Tim Ohlwiler – Extension Agent, Agriculture and Natural Resources – Horticulture.
- With Nature in Mind: Design & Plants for Resilient Gardens. with C. Coleston Burrell – Garden Designer, Lecturer, Author and Photographer.
- Foraging in Your Own Backyard: Edible Weeds and Ornamental Plants. with Frank Hyman – Writer, Gardener, and Keeper of Backyard Chickens.
- GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms): What’s in Your Garden? With Deborah Koller, Extension Master Gardener Coordinator and chair of Virginia Tech’s College of Science Dean’s Roundtable, and and Betsy Brown, Extension Master Gardener.
All proceeds benefit the NSVMGA Memorial Scholarship Fund. The cost is $65 through PayPal at the link below or $70 at the door, and includes a continental breakfast and lunch. Parking is free.
