About

The Northern Shenandoah Valley Master Gardener Association supports its members — Virginia Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Volunteers serving the counties of Clarke, Frederick, Page, Shenandoah, and Warren.

VCE Master Gardener Volunteers are educators who work within their communities to encourage and promote environmentally sound horticulture practices through sustainable landscape management, education, and training. Extension Master Gardener Volunteers are required to continue their education each year to stay up to date on current issues and recommendations for home gardeners.

As an educational program of Virginia Cooperative Extension, Extension Master Gardener Volunteers bring the resources of Virginia’s land-grant universities, Virginia Tech and Virginia State University, to the people of the commonwealth.

VCE Master Gardeners have volunteered since 1993 with educational events, projects, help desks & info booths, and gardening speakers throughout NSVMGA’s five-county area. Check out the Association’s newsletter,  press releases, and news to learn more about who members are and what they do in their communities.

NSVMGA also teaches horticulture to children. It offers the Junior Master Gardener Program in Frederick County and  offers a memorial scholarship each year to area high-school students.
